Celebrating Early Education

The CPLS Little Lions Learning Center has been selected as the #1 Best Childcare Center in the “Best of Topeka 2020” contest sponsored by the Topeka Capital Journal.

After hearing the news, CPLS Head of School, Melody Congdon said, “This is an amazing honor for our program which began as a simple idea to create a space for preschool-aged children that was more than traditional daycare.”  Little Lions started six years ago with a handful of students and a desire to provide young children with the opportunity to grow and learn in a Christ-centered environment filled with great literature, music, and hands-on experiences, based upon the structure of classical education.

The program has no marketing budget and relies on the positive word-of-mouth stories from parents to bring new students each year as another group graduates to Kindergarten.  Little Lions attendance steadily grew each year and when more names were on the waitlist than were on the enrolled roster, the teachers at Little Lions knew they had outgrown its original space.

As a result, the teachers worked diligently over the summer to move the program into a larger facility adjacent to campus to accommodate more students.

Program Director, Alex Young, said “A big part of the strength of our program comes from the close partnership that we have with the parents of our students.  We are collaborating to help foster a love of learning in these children, so they are prepared to be successful in Kindergarten and beyond.”

Congratulations to all the teachers at Little Lions!
