We are so proud of our graduating Class of 2019- here’s a look at the rest of our Senior Spotlights which highlight their future plans and special memories at CPLS!
Amelia Smith
Future Plans: She plans on attending Benedictine College, pursuing a major in psychology. She is attending Benedictine on a Dean’s Scholarship. In college, she hopes to continue her involvement in the humanities and to also remain involved in the fine arts.
Favorite CPLS Memory: “My favorite memory would probably be performing in Little Mary Sunshine. Getting to play a silly girl and act with Anna Dexter in such a quirky production was endless fun. I still remember the choreo to Mata Hari!”
What She Will Miss Most: She will definitely miss the family aspect of Cair Paravel. She has attended CP since Kindergarten and it has become a second home. I will really miss seeing my classmates every single day.
Anna Thomas
Future Plans: Anna Thomas plans to attend Wichita State University in the fall as a Computer Science major.
Favorite CPLS Memory: “My favorite memory at Cair Paravel would be the New York City tour. Even though I’ve been to NYC before, being there with close friends allowed me to make so many more memories with all of them.”
What She Will Miss Most: Anna will miss her classmates the most after graduation, since she has known them for over half of her lifetime. She can’t believe that next year she won’t be around all of them every Monday through Friday. To her, it feels like leaving another family.
Hannah Woolery
Future Plans: Hannah plans to attend Emporia State University as an education major, having been been awarded the presidential scholarship as well as an athletic scholarship for soccer.
Favorite CPLS Memory: “Some of my favorite high school moments come from playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball. I loved the opportunity sports gave her to bond with and compete beside my teammates.”
What She Will Miss Most: Hannah says that she will miss the community of Cair Paravel, but that she will always treasure the relationships she has built with the student body and teachers that have invested in her.
Jeremiah Ellis
Future Plans: Jeremiah’s future plans are to join the Air National Guard for security and then go to Washburn University through the military to study criminal justice.
Favorite CPLS Memory: “My favorite memory would have to be the Colorado tour because it was so fun getting to hike through the area, ride horses, and just get to spend quality time with my friends.”
What He Will Miss Most: He will miss the relationships he’s made with the teachers the most when leaving. He doesn’t think he can burst into a professor’s office at Washburn and say, “It’s a wonderful day for football”, like Peyton, Michael, and he would do to Mr. Bonura. I’m going to remember them all throughout my life.
Maya Ewing
Future Plans: Maya will be attending Baylor University in the fall as a University Scholar. She has received several academic scholarships as well as honors scholarships as a part of the honors college.
Favorite CPLS Memory: “My favorite memory was our Colorado tour, which I remember to be a great character building and bonding time with friends in a beautiful spiritual oasis. I also have fond memories of the good food, dancing, and generally enjoyable mountain experience. “
What She Will Miss Most: Maya will miss the family aspect of Cair Paravel, both with classmates and with teachers. She believes that CPLS is a special place, and she has made many irreplaceable friendships and memories here.
Peyton Smith
Future Plans: Peyton Smith is planning to attend K-state in the fall to study either Kinesiology or Biology.
Favorite CPLS Memory: “My favorite memory was winning three championships in basketball out of four years of playing.”
What He Will Miss Most: After graduation, he will miss the close relationships with faculty and the younger kids. Peyton believes that the opportunity students have at Cair Paravel to be close with everyone is special and should be cherished.
Michael Walker
Future Plans: Michael Walker has received an alumni scholarship, academic scholarship, and presidential scholarship to attend Washburn University in the fall as a Chemistry major.
Favorite CPLS Memory: “One of the many favorite memories I have made over the years at CPLS was the Colorado tour to Lost Valley Ranch in 10th grade. I enjoyed riding horses, rappelling, and hanging out with my best friends. One morning, I went on the sunrise hike, where we hiked so high up that we stood above the clouds as the sun rose.”
What He Will Miss Most: Michael will miss the teachers and friendships that he has made at Cair Paravel and he loves the community aspect.
