DRAMA and MUSIC

DRAMA - Each spring, the high school students are given an opportunity to participate in a full-length dramatic production. Auditions are open to all students in grades 9-12.

HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR - Choir is an elective class for students in grades 9-12. Students perform at the spring, fall and Christmas music concerts and participate in the MAACS competition each spring.

MAACS - CPLS, as a member of MAACS (Mid-America Association of Christian Schools) participates each spring in an academaic and fine arts competition held at Tri-City Christian School in Independence, Missouri.

Students in grade 5-6 compete on one day. Students in grades 7-12 compete over a 2-day period. Catagories include: choral performances, vocal and instrumental performances, dramatic readings, expository readings, art competition and academic testing. Competitors who will represent the school at MAACS are selected ahead on time based on auditions or testing. Concert dress is required.

MAACS is an excellent way for 9th-12th graders to fulfill the two Fine Arts requirements for graduation.

MADRIGALS - is a select singing group comprised of students in grades 9-12. The madrigals represent CPLS throughout the community with their gift of song. Providing "singing valentines", singing at conventions and participating in vocal music competitions are among the group's activities. Participation in the Madrigals is by audition; it is an elective class. Madrigals are required to be in the CPLS high school choir.

MUSICALS - Each fall, the high school students put on a full-length musical production, with performances spanning two weekends. Auditions for the production are held approximately eight weeks prior to opening night and include both singing and script reading. Students in grades 9-12 are eligible to audition.
