ADMISSIONS

Families of new applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, but these applications will not be evaluated until March 1, for the fall school year. The admissions committee schedules interviews as necessary during March. A letter of enrollment decision will be mailed by April 1 and applicants will have until June 10th to pay their first tuition payment and secure a place in the school. Following the start of school, applicants will be evaluated and accepted on a rolling basis for admission. Our hope is to find the best possible match between the school and families who understand and desire what CPLS has to offer.

ADMISSIONS STANDARDS

Admissions is perhaps one of the most crucial stages in the application process. CPLS operates as an extension of the student's family, recognizing that parents have the God-given responsibility and authority to educate and discipline their children. As such, it is extremely important for the family to fully investigate all educational opportunities. CPLS understands the nature of educating young minds from a Christian Worldview and strives to offer an environment that reflects the concerns and goals of our families.

KINDERGARTEN

CPLS holds a Kindergarten Round -up every spring at the school. On this morning you, as a parent, will receive information about the school. Your child will be prescreened at a later date. Applicants will be screened on things such as basic shapes, colors, knowing their alphabet, writing their name, counting up to 25, following simple directions as well as demonstrating some fine motor skills.

LOWER (1-5) AND MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8)

Cair Paravel-Latin School requires the admissions committee, comprised of the headmaster, board members and teachers, examine previous school grades and the most recent standardized test scores. The student will also be given a screening test to establish whether they are ready to fit into the grade level for which they are applying. Due to the limited resources and the rigorous academic load, the student should have evidenced no learning disabilities or previous behavioral problems.

UPPER SCHOOL (9TH-12TH)

Prospective students must demonstrate standardized test scores above the 66th percentile or a GPA of 2.25 during their most recent school year. In addition, they must be able to work out a plan to meet all of the graduation requirements of CPLS based on previous credits. Because of the college-preparatory curriculum, it is often times hard for a student to transfer in after the 9th grade year and meet the graduation requirements. Thus, it is the parent's responsibility to have the students make up any deficiencies with school approval before graduation. Finally, the student must convince the admissions committee of his desire for a Classical Christian education.
