About CPLS: |
Cair Paravel-Latin School is a coeducational, non-profit, interdenominational Christian day school. CPLS offers a classical Christian education for elementary and secondary students. Our name honors C.S. Lewis, author of the Chronicles of Narnia. "Cair Paravel" is the castle that represents the courage, purity and faithfulness of the story's young heroes. The "Latin" refers to Boston Latin School, one of the first free public schools in America. |

Curriculum: |
CPLS is a classical Christian college preparatory school, and as such, our curriculum reflects the high standards that we set before our students. The Bible, the Classics and primary documents form the basis of all that we do and determine the rigor of our courses. Each and every student will be challenged and inspired by our curriculum while being given the "tools" with which to further their learning and a passion for knowledge all brought together in their convergency with Christ. |

Class Tours: |
One of the highlights of student life at CPLS is the "TOUR" taken each spring. These tours are a wonderful opportunity for our students to draw closer to each other in Christian fellowship. It is here the that seeds of true lasting friendships are sown, nutured and brought to fruition while also providing an awe inspiring sojourn though our nations' heritage. The goal, therefore, of the tours is to provide each and every student a chance to personally experience the richness and vitality of our cultural heritage in an environment conducive to personal and spiritual growth. We consider these tours so important that they are an integral part of the curriculum and as such, required of each student. The costs of these tours are included in the overall tuition for each student. 5th - 6th Grade: These grades are given the opportunity to experience the rich history offered in the heartland. Tours alternate years between the Heartland Tour (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri) and the St. Louis or Hannibal Tour (Mark Twain, Lewis & Clark Expedition, etc...) This is a two or three day tour, serving as an excellent precursor to tours in the following years. 7th - 8th Grade: These students gain a knowledge of our nations history visiting sites significant in our nations history. Tours alternate between the history of our Founding Fathers and the revolutionary war by visiting the Williamsburg/Jamestown area on the east coast and a trip to the south including a visit to the Alamo, Dallas and an overnight stay on an aircraft carrier. 9th-10th Grade: These students have traditionally alternated between the thrills and challenges of a Dude Ranch in Colorado affording them the opportunity to rappel, horseback ride, hike, etc... and a tour of our nations' capital and its wealth of history. 11-12th Grade: The vastness and diversity of our nations' geography, culture and majesty become apparent in alternating tours including the towering skyscrapers of New York and the majestic depths of the Grand Canyon (visited on the way to California). |

Convocation: |
Convocation is held weekly for grammar, middle and high school students. The concept behind our weekly convocation is to challenge and inspire students to pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The time of fellowship together includes worship and praise music, prayer and motivational speakers. Middle and high school students also participate in an annual Spiritual Emphasis Week. This week seeks to energize and encourage students on their personal faith journey and includes daily convocation services, speakers, prayer and study covering the selected theme for the year. |
|
Memory Work: |
We believe that the "fear of the Lord" is the beginning if knowledge and wisdom (Proverbs 1:7). Since our God reveals himself to us through his Word, scripture memorization is incorporated into the curriculum. |
|
Athletics: |
The CPLS Athletic Department offers a variety of sports for students in grades 7-12. Fall sports include boys football and soccer and girls volleyball. Winter sports are boys and girls basketball and in the spring we field teams in boys golf and girls soccer. |
