About Classical Education

Christian classical education at CPLS refers to the methodology and content of instruction. CPLS is Christian in that we recognize the Lordship of Jesus Christ and teach the historical and cultural implications of God the creator, Jesus Christ the Redeemer and the providence of God in all affairs. Aided by strong Christian teachers, Christian theology becomes the point of integration for all knowledge with the Word of God as the illuminator, definer and final arbitrator of truth. Our students learn to recognize and appreciate the awesome power of God and to look for his fingerprints throughout the flow of western civilization.

CPLS is classical in its educational methodology, as distinguished by our embracing of the Trivium - a three pronged approach to the grammar, and logic and rhetoric of each subject. Beginning with the grammar stage, students study and master the significant precepts, writers and thinkers of each discipline. Logic follows with the sound reasoning and the ordered relationship within and between subjects. Rhetoric then teaches and requires the clear and persuasive articulation of facts, ideas and relationships learned through written and oral presentations. A Biblical application of the socratic method complements the trivium to create a dynamic classroom environment for learning and students who have a desire and a passion to learn.
